Few other small things like the voxware code initialises the Audio Excel DSP 16 into sound blaster mode at run time. (Dos users run a utility to do this). I don't think Luigi's driver does, but that is easy enough to add. Perhaps more of a deal could be struck with OSS. They really do have sound cards all wrapped up, hence their $20 fee.
