The standard can be found online at http://www.opengroup.org/unix/online.html . When adding text from the POSIX standard the following simple guidelines must be followed: The imported text must be run through the ``de-shallifying'' script, which can be found installed on recent FreeBSD systems as /usr/share/examples/mdoc/deshallify.sh. This script removes many of the ``shall'' statements from the text and therefore making the text more readable. Each manual page which has POSIX text incorporated must have the following text added as mdoc(7) comments after the normal license: Portions of this text are reprinted and reproduced in electronic form from IEEE Std 1003.1, 2004 Edition, Standard for Information Technology -- Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX), The Open Group Base Specifications Issue 6, Copyright (C) 2001-2004 by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc and The Open Group. In the event of any discrepancy between this version and the original IEEE and The Open Group Standard, the original IEEE and The Open Group Standard is the referee document. The original Standard can be obtained online at http://www.opengroup.org/unix/online.html . This text can be found as /usr/share/examples/mdoc/POSIX-copyright on recent FreeBSD systems. The text and formatting from POSIX-copyright should be used. The above text will be added to the FreeBSD Documentation Project Primer [1] soon (hopefully within a couple of days). Also note that recent, in the above text, refers to -CURRENT as a couple of minutes ago :-). Thanks for making this happen should go to Jacques Vidrine and Ruslan Ermilov (at least these are the people I know who have been working on this), I just got to do the commits and write about it :-).
