Why it is happened I don't > know. If this file is there, usual xkb config works well. First, this isn't really a -stable issue, it's a -ports issue. Second, a few other people I've talked to have run into this problem with portupgrade and X updates. The only way I know of to safely upgrade X is to completely pkg_delete it, and then do a clean install.
