I just setup freebsd 4.3-stable at home on my athlon, here is the specs of that connection athlon 800 256 megs ram 28.8 modem over /dev/cuaa1 via userland ppp for net connect xl0 with ip of 192.168.1.1 for internal lan Now, I installed vmware2, usin the host only option during make, and got w2k installed on a virtual disk. However, a few things don't work right. First off, Full screen mode refused to work because I had the mouse set to auto, I manually set it to /dev/psm0 and set it to ps/2 it works fine (After disabling moused and making xwindows use the mouse port (im never in console anyway). Now, i got it to ignore the errors bout full screen vga mode not working, so i hit the full screen button, next thing I know, vmware crashes, my resolutions all fubarred, so I set it to 800x600 again, and go to run vmware again, click full screen mode again, this time putting w2k in 800x600 mode just to attempt it, and i get a problem with cannot open DGA (im guessing i may have needed to reboot, or kill something, didn't really check). Any help with that? secondly: /compat/linux/dev/rtc gives me device not configured, how do i configure that so it works, so that I may get rid of those annoying errors with vmware thirdly: How can i get vmware working with my ppp connection, any help? I need vmware because I have to run a few programs that are all text based with a graphical front end, is there anyone out there who's used vmware in a similar experience. I really don't wanna have to reboot to 2k just to run 2 programs :) Thanks in advance -- Regards, Terry Zink System Administrator Metrocon Communications Phone: (212) 661-6800 x 1553 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
