In future you might try the 6-stable packages. The fruitsalad servers were particularly good because they built for each release branch and built all the packages needed by KDE. Now I come to think about it, I didn't have a good experience with the -P option. IIRC portupgrade -P doesn't handle new dependencies very well, which makes it particularly unsuitable for installs.
