I am not convinced that you have found the root cause for this problem. Enabling "tricky PCI acceleration features" may make the system more susceptible to this issue, but I see no reason to believe that this is the source of the problem. My system is built around an Intel L440GX+ motherboard, and has only one expansion card: an Intel PCI NIC to provide a network interface in addition to the on-board LAN. Intel motherboards are known for their conservatism and stability, particularly in the server and workstation lines. There are no options in the BIOS for "PCI acceleration" or other envelope-pushing system tuning. And, there is still the issue that this device timeout problem first became noticeable in 4.6-RELEASE, on the same hardware configuration. Now, as per my reports in the PR, this problem was _alleviated_ by something in 4.6.2-RELEASE (the frequency of occurance is much lower), but it most definitely has not gone away.
