I solved the problem by adding SRV_JAVA_OPTS="$SRV_JAVA_OPTS -Djava.nio.channels.spi.SelectorProvider=sun.nio.ch.PollSelectorProvider" at the right place in /usr/local/share/crashplan/bin/CrashPlanEngine, and the same with $GUI_JAVA_OPTS in /usr/local/bin/CrashPlanDesktop.
