Hmm. This is a known bug. Some tapes (and maybe controllers) return a read/write error at EOT instead of just an indication. Hopefully dump can be reprogrammed to take advantage of this. I'm trying to look at the open GNATS PRs, but you might submit one if there isn't one in there already.
