Since he only wants to release binaries, there is a limit to how many platforms he can support. Although porting is probably trivial, maintaining a FreeBSD system is unlikely to be cost-effective in his view. And, for this type of software he would need FreeBSD installed on real hardware (rather than emulated), and test a range of devices with it.
