While we are on the subject of the Matrox Meteor video capture board,
what about the performance of the file system . I remember Jim Lowe 
complaining about buffer cache flushes causing the meteor to miss frames.
Got to admit that Jim was using the file system ;however, according to 
Julian raw disk i/o is a sync operation .
