MAXDSIZ. It defaults to 512Mb. It can be raised by setting it in the kernel configuration, or adding kern.maxdsiz="524288" In your /boot/loader.conf file. Replace 524288 with whatever limit you want, but don't go above 2^31-1. FreeBSD uses signed ints for this value, so the results are interesting ...
