On systems where quotas are enabled, users are limited in the size of the files they can edit in approximately half the quotas they've been given if recover files from nvi(1) are saved in ~/.vi or in the current working directory (as vim(1) does right now). I seem to prefer the way nvi works, but my personal preference is not very important.
