If you have any trouble getting it to work, mail me. I just set up a ATI AIW Pro in a FreeBSD box. I can now get vid and audio full screen on my tv using Xine. If you want to capture video, or do anything with the video besides decode it, go with Linux. Just dl XF86 4.2, compile, get GATOS from CVS (with -r devel option), patch GATOS for Mach64, build GATOS, install the Xine port from ports/graphics/xine, plug in a TV, reboot, start X, start Xine, load your VCD and your set. Note: this process will take 9,000,000 hours if you don't have XFree86. Actually, the whole thing is kind of a PITA, but it's the same on linux cause GATOS doesn't have TV out under X in the main source tree yet, and there's that Mach64 patch issue. Here's a link to the patch you need to get the AIW working though: http://www.xfree86.org/pipermail/xpert/2001-December/013825.html here's the gatos page with instructions: http://gatos.sourceforge.net/watching_tv.php Scroll down to "Adventurous Setup" and ignore all the stuff about km, AVView, and drm-kernel. Just install the ati.2 driver. jeb.
