Bruce Mah, the keep of the Notes, has a page dedicated to release documentation. http://people.freebsd.org/~bmah/relnotes/ Have a look at the 4-STABLE release notes for an up-to-date snapshot of what's new. Keep in mind that not all fixes and tweaks go in this file. Oh, and we're still in 4.5-stable. 4.6-PRE is scheduled for May 1. I'll leave the specific MB question to someone with more familiarity with the chipset in question.
