HTTP, though less > efficient in terms of data transfer for large files, is much easier to > program, distribute, scale, etc. Thoughts? -sc for fetching files, http is the better and faster alternative imho. i got the whole mirror on filepile.nacamar.net(ftp2.de.freebsd.org) exported via http (the /pub path) so all i have to configure in my make.conf for example is replacing the ftp:// with http:// in MASTER_SITE_BACKUP. for quick and easy updates http is the way to go. you can also do all sorts of selective statistics with standard common logfile format access_logs better and faster with log analysis packages (like for example selective access statistics based on the os release when you push the binary packages into different basepaths). /k -- > LET Jesus be YOUR anchor!
