The following is from the scroll back as mentioned above when booting with a 2.2.8-RELASE floppy. I tried that because I know someone who got a box like this to work with 2.2.5 without any SCSI detection problems. Probing for devices on PCI bus 0: chip0 rev 2 on pci0:0:0 ncr0 rev 1 int a irq 11 on pci0:1:0 ncro waiting for scsi devices to settle (ncr0:0:0): "DEC r225M (C) DEC 0680" type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd0(ncr0:0:0): Direct-Access sd0(ncr0:0:0): 10.0 MB/S (100ns, offset 8) 510MB (1044206 512 byte sectors) (ncr0:6:0): "NEC CD-ROM DRIVE:841 1.0" type 5 removable SCSI 2 cd0(ncr0:6:0): CD-ROM cd present [322265 x 2048 byte records] chip1 rev 0 on pci0:2:0 Probing for devices on the ISA bus: etc.... Now, why can't 3.1-RELEASE do this? Mind you, someone suggest I try a more recent version of 3.1 and see what I get there. cheers. -- Dan Langille - DVL Software Limited The FreeBSD Diary - http://www.FreeBSDDiary.org/freebsd/ NZ FreeBSD User Group - http://www.nzfug.nz.freebsd.org/ The Racing System - http://www.racingsystem.com/racingsystem.htm To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
