There's a guide for users new to both FreeBSD *and* Unix at http://www.freebsd.org -- follow the links to documentation and then tutorials. It's also available at http://andrsn.stanford.edu/FreeBSD/newuser.html (where it's a single document, instead of being divided up and linked); or I can send you a copy by e-mail if you like.
