I reinstalled fxtv using the make commandline option HAVE_XFREE86=NO (with Gregors advice) and it works like a champ. Still having problem getting audio ... /dev/dsp is there and works with xmms but nuttin' from fxtv ... I am currently goofing aroung with the X11 default file (/etc/X11/app-defaults/Fxtv) without any luck thus far.
