If you are running an older version of FreeBSD (2.1 or earlier?), there should be a file on the second CD called kernel.atapi which has the ATAPI support built in. I used that to get the CD going, then got the sources off the CD from inside FreeBSD and built a custom kernel. Remember, before you install a new dist, remember to back up your /etc files, as some (all) files will be replaced. Pete
