As has already been pointed out by leafy in this thread, he was probably talking about Debian GNU/FreeBSD and Debian GNU/NetBSD, which are a combination of BSD kernels with Debian userlands -- not about the BSD systems as such. He is on record many times as saying that the names GNU/FreeBSD, GNU/Solaris etc are not appropriate even if they include some GNU tools in their distribution. The whole thread is based on an out-of-context quote. Rahul
