Sorry, I re-checked my assertion, you'd right. ${DESTDIR} is praticaly not used in bsd.port.mk except to be prepended to actual ${PREFIX}. As you saifd, the problem is deeper, some ports hardcoding ${PREFIX} in theyre binary may be wrong.
