  What can I do to escape from this?  Remake a cable with DCD and DTR
always on?  I wouldn't trust myself playing around in the kernel...

> init q only rereads /etc/ttys but doesn't change console situation.

  I was changing the on to off then init q then off to on...  Tried
kills as well...  Anyway.
