No, if you have FreeBSD on the 2nd disk, you need the boot manager on
both disks.  The first one to get you to the second one, the second
one to get you to FreeBSD.

Again, with a 2 drive system, and FreeBSD on the second drive, you
need the boot manager on both drives.

Having to go through 2 boot managers is a pain for some people
(though I don't know why.  Just 2 keypresses are needed).

To "fix" the problem, re-work your system so that you have FreeBSD on
the 1st drive.  If you don't have enough room on it, then just make a
slice big enough to hold / and swap.  Put the rest on the second
drive.
