AFAIK, the only USB ADSL style modem that is supported in FreeBSD is the
Alcatel Speedtouch (now in the ports tree under net/pppoa-20011007).  Any 
chance you can trade in the current modem for one of the Alcatel ones?

I don't know if there are plans afoot to port more of these devices in the
future.
