For a 1U system, I would definately go with the Tyan Thunder K8SR (S2881)
http://www.tyan.com/products/html/opteron.html
It is the only Taiwan 2P Opteron motherboard with the CPU sockets and
DIMM slots properly positioned for 1U termals.  It only has 8 DIMM slots,
so you loose one of the nice things about the Master3-FAR -- the 12 DIMM
slots.
My second choice is a tie between the Tyan Thunder K8S Pro (S2882) and
Iwill DK8S2-SATA/DK8S2 (http://www.iwill.net/product_adns.asp).
