Yes, it's in the works; but the porters have other priorities as well
(eg: life). You may try checking the arhives of freebsd-java@freebsd.org
and querying there again if you like.

If you've got a FreeBSD binary of jdk-1.5, you'll be able to use it to
bootstrap a build of jdk-1.6 (when it comes out).
