This error is returned by the auditon() system call when your kernel returns ENOSYS (No such system call) for the auditon() call. It looks like you are running a kernel that does not support auditing but a /usr/bin/login binary that includes audit(4) related calls. If you recently rebuild your kernel to remove AUDIT support, you should install an up to date userland too.
