You really need a static IP to do this. Otherwise, people will have to
know what IP you are on when they want to look at your server.

Again, a static IP would solve this problem.

You should be able to ping your machine from the outside world by pinging
your IP, not your machine name. In order to ping your machine name, you
would need a static IP and it would have to be setup in your ISP's DNS.
