There is nothing in the pipeline, simple because the FreeBSD java team doesn't have access to any sources except the ones all the public has access to. (We don't have any early-access to sources, although it was discussed very early this year when SUN was considering giving access to the free-source OS's, but this apparently fell through during SUN's re-organization.) So if/when SUN releases and 'educational' license to JDK1.2 *OR* if they decided to give the free OS's 'early access' a JDK1.2 port will be attempted. Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org I may have found a bug in some of the AWT libraries. I do not have access to a Solaris box but these bugs don't show up on the 1.1 jdk run on NT. The input area of some of the AWT controls like a text field and tree control seem permanently shifted to the lower right. Because of this only a lot of the input in one of these controls is very difficult to read. If you wish to see an example of this, try a Java based game called WebRPG. You can find WebRPG at http://www.webrpg.com I noticed this bug in FreeBSD's 1.15 jdk as well. Sorry I can't give you more info, but the bug manifests itself in WebRPG every time so it is a repeatable bug... -- >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dave Ason | dgason@mindspring.com <<<<<<<<<<<<<< To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-java" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-java Sat Oct 10 05:55:41 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id FAA04531 for freebsd-java-outgoing; Sat, 10 Oct 1998 05:55:41 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from mail.castrop-rauxel.netsurf.de (Mail.Castrop-Rauxel.NetSurf.de [194.64.248.1]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id FAA04526 for ; Sat, 10 Oct 1998 05:55:39 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from erik.micek@essen.netsurf.de) Received: from essen.netsurf.de (port19.Essen.netsurf.de [194.64.249.51]) by mail.castrop-rauxel.netsurf.de (8.9.0/INS-G2.1.0) with ESMTP id OAA01914 for ; Sat, 10 Oct 1998 14:55:09 +0200 (MET DST) Message-ID: <361F5846.8E05E256@essen.netsurf.de> Date: Sat, 10 Oct 1998 14:51:18 +0200 From: Erik X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.06 [de] (Win95; I) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: subscribe Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org subscribe To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-java" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-java Sat Oct 10 20:38:08 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id UAA07298 for freebsd-java-outgoing; Sat, 10 Oct 1998 20:38:08 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from bandicoot.prth.tensor.pgs.com (bandicoot.prth.tensor.pgs.com [157.147.224.1]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id UAA07271 for ; Sat, 10 Oct 1998 20:38:03 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from shocking@ariadne.prth.tensor.pgs.com) Received: from ariadne.tensor.pgs.com (ariadne [157.147.227.36]) by bandicoot.prth.tensor.pgs.com (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id LAA04674 for ; Sun, 11 Oct 1998 11:37:48 +0800 (WST) Received: from ariadne by ariadne.tensor.pgs.com (SMI-8.6/SMI-SVR4) id LAA10755; Sun, 11 Oct 1998 11:37:47 +0800 Message-Id: <199810110337.LAA10755@ariadne.tensor.pgs.com> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0.2 2/24/98 To: freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Missing Motif Symbols Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 11:37:47 +0800 From: Stephen Hocking-Senior Programmer PGS Tensor Perth Sender: owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org My display environment variable is set, but when attempting to run some java apps (notably Sun's JavaTutor) it dies with complaints that _xmDrawingAreaWidgetClass is not found.
