You can get a multimode to singlemode converter (Digi) for about a thousand $US or so :-( That might be better than buying the SM card. Can you get your hands on some nearly worthless junk that has a singlemode port? If so, another possibility is to desolder its singlemode module and use it to replace the multimode module on your standard ATM card. It is no big deal if you can solder and desolder cleanly. I have done this to change the interface of one of my ATM switches. I have four single mode adapter used since the ATM is out. However, our 40 Multi-Mode adapters have been upgraded/changed for at least 2/3 times. This just a fact to let you know the price is like that. -Jin To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-atm" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-atm Fri May 26 20:16:34 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-atm@freebsd.org Received: from khavrinen.lcs.mit.edu (khavrinen.lcs.mit.edu [18.24.4.193]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E595D37BA32; Fri, 26 May 2000 20:16:29 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from wollman@khavrinen.lcs.mit.edu) Received: (from wollman@localhost) by khavrinen.lcs.mit.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) id XAA09006; Fri, 26 May 2000 23:16:07 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from wollman) Date: Fri, 26 May 2000 23:16:07 -0400 (EDT) From: Garrett Wollman Message-Id: <200005270316.XAA09006@khavrinen.lcs.mit.edu> To: Ernie Elu Cc: freebsd-atm@FreeBSD.ORG, freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Single Mode cards In-Reply-To: <200005270039.KAA20750@spooky.eis.net.au> References: <200005270039.KAA20750@spooky.eis.net.au> Sender: owner-freebsd-atm@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org < said: > make a single mode version of the PCA-200 that is supported but it is quite > expensive. Are there any others? You can get fiber to fiber, or fiber to copper. I have not looked at the prices. Tim. To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-atm" in the body of the message
