ABACHA AND THE CONSEQUENT DISSOLUTION OF HIS CABINET THE NEW GOVERNMENT OF CHIEF OBASANJO HAS TURNED AGAINST MY FAMILY. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS A NORMAL INTERROGATION, AS MY FATHER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT SOME CONFIDENTIAL DEALINGS OF HIS BOSS LATE GEN. SANI ABACHA OR HARASSMENT FROM ENEMIES HE MADE WHILE IN GOVERNMENT BUT I WAS PROVED VERY WRONG. MY HUSBANDIS NOW BEING DETAINED AT THE KUJE PRISONS ABUJA FOR DOING NOTHING OTHER THAN SERVING HIS FATHER LAND, ALL OUR ACCOUNTS AT HOME AND ABROAD KNOWN TO THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN FROZEN TO FRUSTRATE US. IT HAS NOW DAWNED ON US THAT WE HAVE A VERY SERIOUS BATTLE WITH PRESIDENT OBASANJO’S GOVERNMENT SINCE HE BELIEVES THAT MY HUSBAND WAS THE PERSON WHO ROPED HIM INTO PRISON FOR A PHANTOM COUP CHARGE, AS HE NOW WANTS TO GET BACK AT US. MY HUSBAND’S CLOSEST ASSOCIATES HAVE BETRAYED AND DESERTED US AND WE NO LONGER TRUST ANYONE OF THEM. THEREFORE, I AM REQUESTING FOR YOUR URGENT ASSISTANCE TO HELP MY FAMILY. RECENTLY, HE CONFIDED IN ME ABOUT A SECRET DEPOSIT OF US$25,000,000.00 (TWENTY FIVE MILLION, UNITED STATES DOLLARS), WHICH HE MADE VIA DIPLOMATIC COURIER SERVICES TO A SECURITY COMPANY BASED IN ABROAD AND PLACED ON HOLD. BECAUSE OF LACK OF TRUST ON FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES MY HUSBAND HAS MANDATED ME TO OFFER 20% OF THE FUND TO YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE AT THIS HOUR OF NEED. ALL YOU ARE EXPECTED TO DO IS COLLECT THE DEPOSIT DOCUMENTS FROM ME TO ENABLE YOU COLLECT THE TRUNK BOXES OF MONEY ON OUR BEHALF. MY ENTIRE FAMILY IS IN SERIOUS FINANCIAL DISTRESS AND THIS IS THE ONLY HOPE FOR US AS ALL OUR PASSPORTS AND TRAVELING DOCUMENTS HAVE BEEN SEIZED BY THE GOVERNMENT, HAVE IT IN MIND THAT THERE IS NO RISK INVOLVED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AS ONLY , MY HUSBAND AND I KNOW ABOUT THIS. OUR OWN SHARE IS TO BE LEFT IN YOUR CARE UNTIL ONE OF US IS ABLE TO FIND HIS WAY OUT TO OPEN NEW ACCOUNTS. I WILL SINCERELY APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE THROUGH MY PRIVATE EMAIL: fatigwarzo@techemail.com. THIS SUBJECT IS HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH. Directions on booting once I get that far? Yes, it's actually that easy. This applies to building a kernel. After doing a (cross) buildworld, do: make buildkernel TARGET_ARCH=ia64 KERNCONF= Note that you want a kernel config that has NFS as root and that has BOOTP enabled (see /sys/conf/NOTES). Both EFI and the kernel need to get their IP before they can do anything. After building, you want to install it to an alternate root (ie the tree you export with NFS). Something like this works (do installworld before installkernel): make installworld TARGET_ARCH=ia64 DESTDIR=/exported/filesystem The same applies to installkernel. Once you have that, you need to setup a TFTP server and a DHCP server so that EFI can netboot. I have the following (/nfs is a local exported filesystem): /etc/inetd.conf: \begin{snippet} tftp dgram udp wait root /usr/libexec/tftpd tftpd /nfs/netboot \end{snippet} /usr/local/etc/dhcpd.conf: (see for example /usr/ports/net/isc-dhcp3) \begin{literal} authoritative; option domain-name "pn.xcllnt.net"; option domain-name-servers 192.168.4.1; option routers 192.168.4.1; option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0; subnet 192.168.4.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { range 192.168.4.200 192.168.4.254; } group { filename "/nfs/netboot/alpha/loader"; option bootfile-name "/nfs/netboot/alpha/loader"; option root-path "192.168.4.1:/nfs/netboot/alpha"; host alpha { hardware ethernet 00:00:f8:75:7c:14; fixed-address 192.168.4.4; } } group { filename "/nfs/netboot/itanium/loader"; option bootfile-name "/nfs/netboot/itanium/loader"; option root-path "192.168.4.1:/nfs/netboot/itanium"; host itanium { hardware ethernet 00:d0:b7:ab:fb:ab; fixed-address 192.168.4.5; } } \end{literal} You copy loader.efi as install under /boot in your alternate root (ie DESTDIR) to /nfs/netboot/itanium/loader if you want to make the examples work. Feel free to do it differently :-) Having that, you simply select netboot in EFI, watch it get it's network settings through DHCP and load the loader with TFTP. The loader should look pretty familiar. It should automaticly load the kernel across the network. Boot the kernel and enjoy. Pitfalls: o I always had to compile libstand with UDP_CKSUM disabled. Maybe it was my older -stable that had the bug; I don't know. o You probably want to hook up a serial terminal to the ia64 box, as we don't have the VGA console working. Strangely enough, it does work after the kernel has booted and you can login from it. I miserably fail to sink my teeth into this and get it resolved because I don't have a monitor attached to my box anyway :-) HTH, -- Marcel Moolenaar USPA: A-39004 marcel@xcllnt.net To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ia64" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-ia64 Sat Oct 19 11:12:16 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E1EB037B401 for ; Sat, 19 Oct 2002 11:12:14 -0700 (PDT) Received: from canning.wemm.org (canning.wemm.org [192.203.228.65]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A671343E8A for ; Sat, 19 Oct 2002 11:12:14 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from peter@wemm.org) Received: from wemm.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by canning.wemm.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8B83B2A88D; Sat, 19 Oct 2002 11:12:14 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from peter@wemm.org) X-Mailer: exmh version 2.5 07/13/2001 with nmh-1.0.4 To: Marcel Moolenaar Cc: "Van Maren, Kevin" , "'ia64@freebsd.org'" Subject: Re: install status In-Reply-To: <20021019044215.GA93086@dhcp01.pn.xcllnt.net> Date: Sat, 19 Oct 2002 11:12:14 -0700 From: Peter Wemm Message-Id: <20021019181214.8B83B2A88D@canning.wemm.org> Sender: owner-freebsd-ia64@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Marcel Moolenaar wrote: > On Wed, Oct 16, 2002 at 08:57:03AM -0500, Van Maren, Kevin wrote: > > What is the status of the IA64 port? > > We have a working system. > > > Is there an > > installable ISO available for download? > > Not that I know of. I had one at work for a while, but they needed it back. We mostly run on there, even in 4-way mode. I haven't had a chance to find out if the recent pmap bug fixes (in the p4 tree) that I made helped the outstanding problems we had there.
