Good news. :-) However we are concerned about the size of 300GB. Is there a way by which we can prune certain "unnecesssary" or let me put it this way, less frequently downloaded stuff? For instance, can we mirror just the packages or only i386 packages? How to go about it? Thanks. regards, Girish -- Whenever people agree with me I always feel I am wrong. - Oscar Wilde From owner-freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Sep 13 17:03:33 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 59CDE16A55D for ; Wed, 13 Sep 2006 17:03:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from reichert@numachi.com) Received: from meisai.numachi.com (meisai.numachi.com [198.175.254.6]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 86A2943DA1 for ; Wed, 13 Sep 2006 17:03:18 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from reichert@numachi.com) Received: (qmail 12266 invoked from network); 13 Sep 2006 17:03:13 -0000 Received: from natto.numachi.com (198.175.254.216) by meisai.numachi.com with SMTP; 13 Sep 2006 17:03:13 -0000 Received: (qmail 42218 invoked by uid 1001); 13 Sep 2006 17:03:13 -0000 Date: Wed, 13 Sep 2006 13:03:13 -0400 From: Brian Reichert To: girishvenkatachalam@gmail.com Message-ID: <20060913170313.GC15205@numachi.com> References: <20060913151529.GA19808@lakshmi.susmita.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <20060913151529.GA19808@lakshmi.susmita.org> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.10i Cc: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Pruning the FreeBSD software for mirroring X-BeenThere: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "FreeBSD Distributions Hubs: mail sup ftp" List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 13 Sep 2006 17:03:33 -0000 On Wed, Sep 13, 2006 at 08:45:29PM +0530, Girish Venkatachalam wrote: > However we are concerned about the size of 300GB. You can almost certainly drop the ia64 packages without anyone noticing, but you should really try to mirror the full i386 and amd64 sets. sparc64 is probably lower use, but still worth mirroring if you can (at least 6.x and 7.x).
