I regret that this is as positively as I can identify the hardware at this time. When browsing the internet (whether it be loading web pages or downloading files) or utilizing KGet (an application created for the K Desktop Environment used for downloading files over the internet), the computer will occasionally freeze (meaning that all activity on the monitor ceases, the hard drive indicator light ceases lighting up, and input is non-responsive) such that a reset of the computer is required to get an operational system again. When the system becomes non-responsive, the screen will go black a short time later. Though the modem stops transmitting data once the system stops responding, it still behaves as if it is connected to my ISP (that is, the "OH", "MR", "CD", and "PWR" lights are still active). It should be noted that I use PC-BSD, not pure Free-BSD. However, as almost 90 percent of its code base is derived from FreeBSD, I felt that the problem probably lies with it, not, PC-BSD. I have taken this problem to the official PC-BSD IRC channel, where I was instructed by a fellow user to build a kernel which included the DDB capability. I have done this, and am prepared to obtain whatever information is required with DDB, provided I am told how to do so. >How-To-Repeat: Presumably, one must possess the required hardware and use the internet for an indeterminate amount of time to reproduce the problem. >Fix: Unknown. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Sep 22 22:23:21 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-www@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 49E4116A468; Sat, 22 Sep 2007 22:23:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from linimon@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2C1EB13C45B; Sat, 22 Sep 2007 22:23:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from linimon@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (linimon@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.1/8.14.1) with ESMTP id l8MMNKRk020519; Sat, 22 Sep 2007 22:23:20 GMT (envelope-from linimon@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from linimon@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.1/8.14.1/Submit) id l8MMNK6m020515; Sat, 22 Sep 2007 22:23:20 GMT (envelope-from linimon) Date: Sat, 22 Sep 2007 22:23:20 GMT Message-Id: <200709222223.l8MMNK6m020515@freefall.freebsd.org> To: ireclan@gmail.com, linimon@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-www@FreeBSD.org, linimon@FreeBSD.org From: linimon@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: ports/116566: Internet Browsing Lockup X-BeenThere: freebsd-www@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Project Webmasters List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 22 Sep 2007 22:23:21 -0000 Synopsis: Internet Browsing Lockup State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback State-Changed-By: linimon State-Changed-When: Sat Sep 22 22:21:22 UTC 2007 State-Changed-Why: We'll need to know more information, such as what browser you're using, to correctly assess the problem.
