I'm thinking that some of this may be due to improper permissions on some of the executables used by k3b. The pkg-message for k3b mentions a number of things you should do to ensure proper functioning, such as setting some programs suid root. Try doing the following and make sure you haven't overlooked any of the suggestions it mentions: $ cd /usr/ports/sysutils/k3b && make showinfo Hope this helps. -- Conrad J. It seems that my installation hangs right after the end of loader.rc. I do not get any kernel output or sysinstall messages. This happens with FreeBSD/amd64 6.3-RC2 and 7.0-RC1, but not with 6.2. Perhaps dhcpd got a fresh lease (kern/84225). There was an active ssh session over IPv6 at the time of the reboot. This session sometimes gets reset by the server, where sshd logs a "Network unreachable" message trying to send a packet down a gif1 tunnel interface. >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jan 10 05:20:02 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7CE0A16A41B for ; Thu, 10 Jan 2008 05:20:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 653B113C501 for ; Thu, 10 Jan 2008 05:20:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id m0A5K2mh024414 for ; Thu, 10 Jan 2008 05:20:02 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id m0A5K2hV024405; Thu, 10 Jan 2008 05:20:02 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2008 05:20:02 GMT Message-Id: <200801100520.m0A5K2hV024405@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org From: "Peter Wemm" Cc: Subject: Re: amd64/119516: panic: _mtx_lock_sleep: recursed on non-recursive mutex rtentry @ /usr/src/sys/net/route.c:1287 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Peter Wemm List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2008 05:20:02 -0000 The following reply was made to PR amd64/119516; it has been noted by GNATS. I have a user-mode ipv6 tunnel using tun0. If I have active ssh sessions while I reboot, the tunnel driver is killed instantly at the first sigterm. The machine then panics with the same recursive mutex problems that you describe above as it tries to send the tcp resets from ssh/sshd while tun0 is being torn down and routes being destroyed. Sorry that's no help to you. But you're not alone. Thanks. :) FWIW, I just noticed that the crash coincided with maintenance performed by my ISP so it is likely that an ssh session (over v6) was getting reset at the time of the panic. -- Niels. -- "The Mac doesn't have a one-button mouse, it has a five-button mouse, with four of the buttons on the keyboard." -- Peter da Silva From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jan 12 14:36:13 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6015816A421; Sat, 12 Jan 2008 14:36:13 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from linimon@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 26EB113C447; Sat, 12 Jan 2008 14:36:13 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from linimon@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (linimon@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id m0CEaD3v046314; Sat, 12 Jan 2008 14:36:13 GMT (envelope-from linimon@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from linimon@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id m0CEaDKo046310; Sat, 12 Jan 2008 14:36:13 GMT (envelope-from linimon) Date: Sat, 12 Jan 2008 14:36:13 GMT Message-Id: <200801121436.m0CEaDKo046310@freefall.freebsd.org> To: linimon@FreeBSD.org, gnats-admin@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org From: linimon@FreeBSD.org X-Mailman-Approved-At: Sat, 12 Jan 2008 15:04:10 +0000 Cc: Subject: Re: amd64/119591: [amd64] [patch] time_t on 64-bit architecture X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 12 Jan 2008 14:36:13 -0000 Old Synopsis: time_t on 64-bit architecture New Synopsis: [amd64] [patch] time_t on 64-bit architecture Responsible-Changed-From-To: gnats-admin->freebsd-amd64 Responsible-Changed-By: linimon Responsible-Changed-When: Sat Jan 12 14:35:02 UTC 2008 Responsible-Changed-Why: Reclassify. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=119591
