I have had the same problem (no .gir) and re-installing gobject-introspection fixed it. It's annoying that the failure seems to generate no error message at all and the build just continues until the lack of the gor file is noticed. Too may Gnome tools seem very weak on error reporting. -- R. Kevin Oberman, Network Engineer Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) Ernest O. Built and rebuilt gobject-introspection to be sure. Built libpeas. Both of the above were from the /usr/ports/section/app directory and not from the work/subdirectory. I am working with the SunBlade and will see if the same error occurs on this platform. It may be that introspection and the gdk options are needed for other architectures. Vte3 is built. I'm going to start a new mail because of new problems with gnome-terminal3. You have broken two of your systems. It is very difficult for us to help you, because you keep doing what we don't support. Also, you keep jump to different port and port. If you really want to help us. You need to focus on a port at a time and send us a log then wait for us to response back. By the way, I have no interest to support Tier 2 architectures (PowerPC, Sparc64 and etc) but I don't know what about someone in my team. > Just to be safe, I'm going to install libxml and references except for > the linux versions. > If this doesn't work, I'll post the next error. > > On 4/3/11, Super Bisquit wrote: >> Error at: http://slexy.org/view/s20YX991yh -- mezz.freebsd@gmail.com - mezz@FreeBSD.org FreeBSD GNOME Team http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/ - gnome@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Apr 5 01:59:55 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 45B801065672 for ; Tue, 5 Apr 2011 01:59:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from superbisquit@gmail.com) Received: from mail-vx0-f182.google.com (mail-vx0-f182.google.com [209.85.220.182]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F3A0E8FC0C for ; Tue, 5 Apr 2011 01:59:54 +0000 (UTC) Received: by vxc34 with SMTP id 34so5720364vxc.13 for ; Mon, 04 Apr 2011 18:59:54 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date :message-id:subject:from:to:cc:content-type; bh=eshSAKV7W0PTBUaIkAuNEVOCocu6JUA31KrAoV1o5KM=; b=DQlWzZojqYC4WPOou8IuuKTl5DMmKLjKMGww77poW3ca26eyU/gqjL4kj8GHm7Od4W 5aWmVVfqYalo4XmZpBmM8Ad9ERTOLIHJ5NLXWerXzmgPwhiWpJ0myl1E2kDKl6JSm3pE IiuFmpc3+OXY+HbKkdp8CIUUNeHR8rHGa6lr8= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date:message-id:subject:from:to :cc:content-type; b=WUbiZyJNemuFg8NkZkkHwrbtdyW0/e9P6lnlndn2Jtx5c/LuLV+slQqsIZcyTeT7ox 5CrTAxZsbt0Nnz3hXGoPAgjQYFU/Es4aGjSIV+BWcYm4B5RBGennjnmlCJ8RgyPG/SHk LjwekDVNayIxIfgDZxqjF5wYeDgzvDlmR8WVE= MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.220.194.1 with SMTP id dw1mr2145887vcb.62.1301968793543; Mon, 04 Apr 2011 18:59:53 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.220.186.138 with HTTP; Mon, 4 Apr 2011 18:59:53 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: References: Date: Mon, 4 Apr 2011 21:59:53 -0400 Message-ID: From: Super Bisquit To: Jeremy Messenger Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Cc: gnome@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Port gnome-terminal3 fails to build X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 05 Apr 2011 01:59:55 -0000 My equipment is not broken. I found a reference to updating python. i won't quote the source because of the replies you would give. The two machines build at different rates. Setting up each is a lot different than a normal i386 or amd64 system. If application "A" breaks on machine1 while application "C" breaks on machine 2 then these are two separate problems which will be referenced separately. With your statement, I can conclude that you and the others on the mailing list are tired of hearing from me. I'll do all of you the favor and remove my email from the list. I can build packages myself and upload them to my own area. I'm more into helping people setup their systems so they can use them. I appreciate the chance to work with the gnome team. Now, don't email me or reply, okay? Thanks. As result, gnome-shell started to work. :) Not totally, but it is a great progress ! Now I have the following situation. When I start gnome-shell, everything goes ok until I click the Applications option on Activities button. This action make gnome-shell crash again. Yeah, I went through the configure file. Too many Linux dependencies and then there is udev. The uuid is on a different path. You need to define distro. Linux only libs. I cut out a large portion of configure before giving up on building on the sunblade. Half or more of configure needs to be rewritten just for the correct paths. If you think about it for a minute, you can use Debian/kFreeBSD. There is the normal environment for debian and FreeBSD builds/testing can be done from a chroot environment. Debian-Linux environment reference FreeBSD- chroot vnc ssh login.
