I want to setup xen into FreeBSD. I use FreeBSD 9 CURRENT. I fetch Xen latest tarball. Xen needs this dependencies to be built: Code: * GCC v3.4 or later * GNU Make * GNU Binutils * Development install of zlib (e.g., zlib-dev) * Development install of Python v2.3 or later (e.g., python-dev) * Development install of curses (e.g., libncurses-dev) * Development install of openssl (e.g., openssl-dev) * Development install of x11 (e.g. xorg-x11-dev) ** Development install of uuid (e.g. uuid-dev) * bridge-utils package (/sbin/brctl) * iproute package (/sbin/ip) * hotplug or udev* * GNU bison and GNU flex * GNU gettext * 16-bit x86 assembler, loader and compiler (dev86 rpm or bin86 & bcc debs) * ACPI ASL compiler (iasl) With *bold* are the dependencies that I cannot find. Any idea? I want to setup Xen on FreeBSD. *Not to install FreeBSD on a Xen machine running Linux*. How to do this? It's not a good idea to run anything publicly available on the host machine, so the host doesn't really matter IMHO. Any idea? > I want to setup Xen on FreeBSD. *Not to install FreeBSD on a Xen = machine > running Linux*. > How to do this? There is no support for a Xen hypervisor running on a Freebsd host. You should try instead bhyve (http://wiki.freebsd.org/BHyVe) which=20 is the native freebsd hypervisor. Or also take a look in ports for virtualbox which is also an hypervisor to run guest VM. NetBSD provides a very functional XEN domain 0. I run FreeBSD, NetBSD and Linux PVM (para-virtualized machines) and FreeBSD and Windows HVM (hardware virtualized machines) on my NetBSD dom0's. - Please start from http://www.netbsd.org/ports/xen/howto.html , but - this page might be obsolete. It's slightly out of date, as GRUB is no longer required to boot the dom0. Otherwise, it is fairly accurate. I would say the process is: Install NetBSD Install sysutils/xenkernel4 and sysutils/xentools4 from pkgsrc Install netbsd-XEN3_DOM0 into / Copy /usr/pkg/xen4-kernel/xen.gz to / Update /boot.cfg to load and boot /xen.gz, and load /netbsd-XEN3_DOM0 Reboot - Please advice me how to, if you can set it up !! I'll be happy to answer questions. -- Eric Schnoebelen eric@cirr.com http://www.cirr.com License plate seen on a car speeding by me: 4VRLATE
