This had to happen: env CFLAGS=-I/usr/local/include pip install pysqlite That is not intuitive, why do users need to do this on FreeBSD? No other platform requires this. This could be avoided by always running it [PR 177980, 177403]. 2. Not having UNAME_r set will cause many unknown errors. Many ports use OSREL (derived from UNAME_r) to determine the name of files. This is usually also due to the port build itself using uname -r to derive filenames or 'built for' messages. [PR 192449, 191943] Without having these sanity checks it is very easy for users to get into situations where "everything worked" until they touch a certain port that reads uname(1) output or OSVERSION. It has always been necessary to define all of the UNAME_ vars and OSVERSION (or have a proper sys/param.h present), but many users do not know this. Remove the fallback on the kernel for kern.osreldate as it easily gets the answer wrong. I have added sanity checks to ensure OSVERSION==OSREL==UNAME_r as these are the most critical vars to have set properly. I'm wondering too... This is rather strange, and I cannot explain why this failure appears now. For sure numpy was broken before my patch: it was impossible to use it without setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the libfortran directory. But I don't understand how it could be related to this missing '-shared'. In the meantime we also upgraded Gcc from 4.7 to 4.8, and this produces also new failures, e.g. with cad/kicad: it was OK with 4.7 but does not compile anymore with 4.8. Any ideas? -- Th. Thomas. E.g., calibre and xmbc cannot be > installed at the same time. > > > I noticed the problem because calibre switched to py-pilllow recently. > There really should be a way that these packages can coexist. > > (py-imaging/py-pilllow maintainers CCed) I just pushed a patch to https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=193957, which updates pillow, makes it available for different python versions at the same time and addresses db@'s _imagingtk issue (https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=193958). This should allow us to migrate the ports to pillow.
