Granted i do not know much about RAID but we plan on implementing this soon on this server. I'm not entirely sure what RAID driver it uses or if there is a RAID controller built in at all on these units? I didnt see anything in 'dmesg' even when adding all the Raid drivers (read: i use GENERIC) but the previous owner said there is one for sure and that i probably just forgot to enable it in BIOS or something. -- Sten From owner-freebsd-chat@FreeBSD.ORG Mon May 23 09:23:30 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E1A3516A41C for ; Mon, 23 May 2005 09:23:30 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from listsub@401.cx) Received: from rambo.401.cx (rambo.401.cx [80.65.205.166]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5ED9443D1D for ; Mon, 23 May 2005 09:23:29 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from listsub@401.cx) Received: from [10.3.101.26] (132.dairy.twenty4help.se [80.65.195.132]) by rambo.401.cx (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id j4N9NQVC030447; Mon, 23 May 2005 11:23:26 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from listsub@401.cx) Message-ID: <4291A109.3040203@401.cx> Date: Mon, 23 May 2005 11:23:21 +0200 From: "Roger 'Rocky' Vetterberg" User-Agent: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 (Windows/20041206) X-Accept-Language: en-us, en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Sten_Daniel_S=F8rsdal?= References: <42919F17.2040008@wm-access.no> In-Reply-To: <42919F17.2040008@wm-access.no> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Cc: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Compaq ML370. Im not sure, but I think the 370 has the same RAID as the DL360. RAID is realized via=20 PCI card. Which genaration of the ML370 do you have? The G1 (white case) usually=20 use Smartarray 4 series, which is supported via the ida driver, later=20 models with Smartarray 5 or 6 use the ciss driver. The ML370 has four generations. The G4 has SmartArray 6402 has default raid controller on the high performance systems and that controller is supported by the ciss driver. -- Regards, Ulf. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ulf Zimmermann, 1525 Pacific Ave., Alameda, CA-94501, #: 510-865-0204 You can find my resume at: http://seven.Alameda.net/~ulf/resume.html
