What's the problem ? If I use the KDE desktop environment I ken not access the drives because I have no permission, and in kdm I ken not log on as the root. How ken I change the permission in the KDE desktop environment? Merry Christmas, and a happy new year !!! >How-To-Repeat: NO, I think that's not a problem ,I'm the problem because I ken not solve it. >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 26 09:34:47 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: i386@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 96AD316A41F; Mon, 26 Dec 2005 09:34:47 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from smarthost2.sentex.ca (smarthost2.sentex.ca [205.211.164.50]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id ECB5A43D5F; Mon, 26 Dec 2005 09:34:46 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from smtp2.sentex.ca (smtp2.sentex.ca [199.212.134.9]) by smarthost2.sentex.ca (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id jBQ9YhDH081956; Mon, 26 Dec 2005 04:34:43 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from freebsd-current.sentex.ca (freebsd-current.sentex.ca [64.7.128.98]) by smtp2.sentex.ca (8.13.3/8.13.3) with ESMTP id jBQ9YhAi000274; Mon, 26 Dec 2005 04:34:43 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: by freebsd-current.sentex.ca (Postfix, from userid 666) id ABDC17302F; Mon, 26 Dec 2005 04:34:43 -0500 (EST) Sender: FreeBSD Tinderbox From: FreeBSD Tinderbox To: FreeBSD Tinderbox , , Precedence: bulk Message-Id: <20051226093443.ABDC17302F@freebsd-current.sentex.ca> Date: Mon, 26 Dec 2005 04:34:43 -0500 (EST) X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV version 0.85.1, clamav-milter version 0.85 on clamscanner3 X-Virus-Status: Clean X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.51 on 205.211.164.50 Cc: Subject: [head tinderbox] failure on i386/i386 X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 26 Dec 2005 09:34:47 -0000 TB --- 2005-12-26 08:01:52 - Unfortunately, I have no option to change IRQ or slot for net card. The PC I have is EliteGroup i-Buddie A530. It is notebook-like PC with everything on-board and simple BIOS setup. I can not even turn off the sound card - it's integrated into chipset and BIOS has no option to change anything except LPT settings, HDD recognition (auto/manual) and language (US/Brasil) :) I tried Windows 98, 2000, XP, Linux (Mandriva 9,10, Debian, SUSE 9,10) - all hardware works just fine, even modem! But FreeBSD 4.11, 5.4, 6.0RC1 can not use netcard, and PC hangs if atapi DMA turned on (this happens with BSD only!!!). Date: Tue, 27 Dec 2005 09:35:00 +0100 This and your other PR 90959 hint at broken hardware, e.g. faulty RAM. Please make sure that your hardware works absolutely fine. There are several tools for benchmarking and stress testing, e.g. unixbench, memtest86, cpuburn and so on. Please talk to the community using mailing lists instead of writing problem reports, because PR without useful debugging information or patches will be closed soon. I was not offered the process of configuring the X server (as in earlier versions of FreeBSD, 5.2.1 and 4.1.1) So, X would not start and the hard copy manual seems to be out of date with the current version because it refers to files that don't exist on this system, at least not in the location specified.
