[1] Ho.... so a patch seems to be needed - no channel scanning (it's based on v4l and I'm not aware of any working software that does this for FreeBSD - xawtv doesn't find any channels for me - it scans for them but doesn't lock on) - copy your channels from ~/.xawtv Yes we know that. xdtv_scan which is based on the scan software from XawTV doesn't work on *BSD system. I don't know if there is something like such software that works on *BSD. - trying to use Xosd or Mozaic Channels makes it stopping to accept input and you'll have to Ctrl+C it which will generate a core (either threading problem or something masked by libpthread - I haven't have time to debug) [2] Could be interessting to know why.. - scheduling recording doesn't work (not everybody run linux - some of the *.sh files installed need to be modified from bash to sh) [3] ok - NLS support doesn't work because of a problem ./configure has with testing for gettext so no internationalization for now. you meen that the "gettext" test don't work on *BSD? - you actually need misc/alevt for teletext support (xdtv contains alevt source code but it doesn't actually build alevt binary, only xdtv_alevt-cap - and the port won't pull it for you right now, so you have to install it manually. [4] Why? AleVT is inside the XdTV software now (version 1.6.1). I just restore for you the possibility to use png format to export as a picture and AleVT teletext capture. I also restore the "smallfont" possibility. Third, I apply the patch about html export you suggest me. - playback of captured streams needs mplayer (or an other player) - the port won't install it for you [5] Ok course. - the same for dvd recording (xdtv_makedvd.sh) (depends: mplayer, mjpegtools, dvdauthor, toolame - BTW, what's toolame ?) [6] Of course too. When writing patches please consider that we have very good chances to propagate them upstream, thanks to the support of one of the developers, Pingus, so please try not to break non-FreeBSD cases. Yes please. If we commit any patch from *BSD user these patch must also work for *Linux too. About the modification to test BT8xx presence, do you think your patch will work on all *BSD system? -#include <==== this doesn't works?? -#include <==== this doesn't works?? +#include +#include - AC_CHECK_HEADERS(dev/ic/bt8xx.h) <==== this doesn't works?? + AC_CHECK_HEADERS(dev/bktr/ioctl_bt848.h) and you don't modify that: #if HAVE_DEV_IC_BT8XX_H #include <============ so why /dev/ic and sometimes /dev/bktr. What is the best to test the drivers? 2) about font/Makefile.in: -prefix=/usr/X11R6 +prefix=%%X11BASE%% I'm not sure we use this line actually. perhaps we have to remove it. 3) about xdtv_wizard: I don't understand what you do on it. we suggest to copy the conf file in /etc/xdtv. for the internationalization we propose the same. Why changing the path? 4) divx4linux OFF : yes of course it work only for linux. I don't think so; I'm replacing it and then, in post-patch target, I'm writing the "right" value (which defaults to /usr/X11R6) from the port's Makefile. If this tuner is detected correctly above (it says "NTSC") you have a problem. > I live in Lithuania, here we use PAL system and I guess it's Ah, Lithuania. I was on holiday there earlier this summer, and have nice memories... but I digress. You use the PAL system (as we do here in Norway); if the tuner really is a NTSC tuner, it won't work. Try the hw.bt848.tuner sysctl as other have suggested. Note; it is possible that you need to put this in /etc/sysctl.conf, and perhaps you will need to reboot your machine between tries, but I am not sure about that. Also, the sysctl hw.bt848.format=0 selects PAL format, you might need to set this as well. Also, I have tried most of sysctl hw.bt848.tuner values, even set hw.bt848.format to 0 as suggested - still no luck. Could it be, that europe-east frequency table is not right for me? The bad thing is that I don't have windows right now to see those frequencies that make this tuner show something. I have a few cards based on that chip that I'd really, really like to get working (natively, not with OSS). If not, is there anyone who knows the sound subsystem well enough, to whom I might be able to provide some incentive to write such a driver? I have spare hardware, and I have some docs around here somewhere that could definitely assist in driver writing. Last thing I could do is modify the source of > something where these frequency tables are defined.. where do you get the 'europe-east' channelset from? there is no such thing in bktr. there is CHNLSET_XUSSR, but I can't find a listing for channels<->frequencies for lithuania to see if that is correct. if you can find such a frequency listing, see if one of the CHNLSET_s as defined in sys/dev/bktr/bktr_tuner.c matches. if one doesn't match, then you know where to add the right definition :) v4l has a much different tuning interface than bktr, so a lot of v4l based programs just don't tune as expected. if you are interested ... I have a package of some small and simple tools for bktr in http://www.jakemsr.com/bsdav/bsdav-1.3.tar.gz if you would download, compile, and install it, and then run $ bktrplay -n pal -s tuner & $ tunerctl chanset=xussr channel=1 in an xterm. I would be interested to know what that produces. -- From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Aug 11 11:31:01 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6351D16A41F for ; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 11:31:01 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from karolis.t@gmail.com) Received: from zproxy.gmail.com (zproxy.gmail.com [64.233.162.204]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EE10A43D58 for ; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 11:31:00 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from karolis.t@gmail.com) Received: by zproxy.gmail.com with SMTP id z6so211011nzd for ; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 04:30:59 -0700 (PDT) DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=beta; d=gmail.com; h=received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition:references; b=XE+13z0/vIzSYeRlxzZcR8xd2+LSwzdaa1hF1Rqk5oyvVf9iwaksKhmYxVApHV7yXJCHeM0TGioJJcZrtDy3RaWA7NfNmJ+RLpY8k8ebumB7hgQOqJYPdjMIH2OTAVVyp+vpxTTA46iatsIdAoDTCT+P1+oVHobfxHge4mCDJ6s= Received: by 10.36.115.10 with SMTP id n10mr1604955nzc; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 04:30:59 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.36.42.9 with HTTP; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 04:30:59 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <6f896f9a050811043038553b58@mail.gmail.com> Date: Thu, 11 Aug 2005 15:30:59 +0400 From: Karolis Tamutis To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org, jakemsr@jakemsr.com In-Reply-To: <20050811062517.GC23174@puff.jakemsr.gom> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline References: <6f896f9a05080902025f8aa5d7@mail.gmail.com> <20050809225048.47d768df.torfinn.ingolfsen@broadpark.no> <6f896f9a05080914057e6744b6@mail.gmail.com> <20050810032119.65de1a75@it.buh.tecnik93.com> <6f896f9a05081005141d557de3@mail.gmail.com> <20050811062517.GC23174@puff.jakemsr.gom> Cc: Subject: Re: Help with tv tuner setup X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 11 Aug 2005 11:31:01 -0000 Hi Jacob, I've tried your tools, here's the output: %bktrplay -n pal -s tuner & [1] 30678 %bktrplay: frame grab timeout bktrplay: failed to stream from /dev/bktr0 [1] Exit 1 bktrplay -n pal -s tuner %tunerctl chanset=3Dxussr channel=3D1 chanset=3Dxussr channel=3D1 I guess it's not very promising :/ From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Aug 11 13:29:14 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A1A8516A41F for ; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 13:29:14 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from mohacsi@niif.hu) Received: from mail.ki.iif.hu (mignon.ki.iif.hu [193.6.222.240]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 499D943D46 for ; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 13:29:14 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from mohacsi@niif.hu) Received: by mail.ki.iif.hu (Postfix, from userid 1003) id 8BA25553A; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 15:29:13 +0200 (CEST) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by mail.ki.iif.hu (Postfix) with ESMTP id 89B51550C; Thu, 11 Aug 2005 15:29:13 +0200 (CEST) Date: Thu, 11 Aug 2005 15:29:12 +0200 (CEST) From: Mohacsi Janos X-X-Sender: mohacsi@mignon.ki.iif.hu To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20050811151428.X69872@mignon.ki.iif.hu> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed Cc: Kris Kennaway Subject: Volunteers to maintain devel/ogre port ? While this enables this functionality (which is good), there should be a generic "sndctl" program which allows to manipulates multiple settings. So the sndctl program could be called in this case for exmaple as "sndctl 3dse on" (or something like this). Maybe you can add some rough command line parsing to your program which reacts on a keyword like above? Ideally it should support the "-f" option like mixer(8) does. I want to work on something like this for the s/pdif <-> analog features (ATM only available as sysctl's in -current), but I don't know when I get time to do it. Your ctl program could then be enhanced to also handle this (and maybe other things like querying for such capabilities and print them together with the current state of operation). After looking at my card, I can just confirm that it has a Conexant fusion 878A video capture chip. I've undid all changes to my kernel config and tried bktrplay again, this time it doesn't exit with error, just shows a screen with grey video debris (well, you know how it looks), but thats no mater what video standart or channel I choose, everytime's the same.
