IMO OO's mozilla should be trained to use gtk20 and ignore gtk12, and the gtk12/glib12/libidl dependencies should be removed if possible. The FreeBSD GNOME team has been phasing out gtk12 support whenever gtk20 support is available as much as possible, and I think that it'd be a big win to have OO do the same. gtk12 is now not needed for any app in any of the GNOME metaports... are you sure that glib12/gtk12/libIDL are necessary for OO? # Adam -- Adam Weinberger adamw@magnesium.net || adamw@FreeBSD.org adamw@vectors.cx || adamw@gnome.org http://www.vectors.cx From owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Jun 19 03:33:39 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: openoffice@FreeBSD.org Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7474516A41C; Sun, 19 Jun 2005 03:33:39 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from chat95@mac.com) Received: from smtpout.mac.com (smtpout.mac.com [17.250.248.83]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3ECE943D1F; Sun, 19 Jun 2005 03:33:39 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from chat95@mac.com) Received: from mac.com (smtpin02-en2 [10.13.10.147]) by smtpout.mac.com (Xserve/8.12.11/smtpout07/MantshX 4.0) with ESMTP id j5J3Xcmi024458; Sat, 18 Jun 2005 20:33:38 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost (yahoobb219196184005.bbtec.net [219.196.184.5]) (authenticated bits=0) by mac.com (Xserve/smtpin02/MantshX 4.0) with ESMTP id j5J3XXsr005904; Sat, 18 Jun 2005 20:33:36 -0700 (PDT) Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2005 12:33:25 +0900 (JST) Message-Id: <20050619.123325.104028615.chat95@mac.com> To: adamw@magnesium.net From: NAKATA Maho In-Reply-To: <42B4DF00.5090109@magnesium.net> References: <200506190247.j5J2lWmV007454@freefall.freebsd.org> <42B4DF00.5090109@magnesium.net> Organization: private X-Mailer: Mew version 3.3 on Emacs 21.3 / Mule 5.0 (SAKAKI) Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Cc: maho@FreeBSD.org, adamw@FreeBSD.org, openoffice@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: ports/77290: OOo2 moz needs GTK2 X-BeenThere: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting OpenOffice to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2005 03:33:39 -0000 In Message-ID: <42B4DF00.5090109@magnesium.net> Adam Weinberger wrote: > Maho Nakata wrote: > > Synopsis: OOo2 moz needs GTK2 > > > > State-Changed-From-To: open->closed > > State-Changed-By: maho > > State-Changed-When: Sun Jun 19 02:36:57 GMT 2005 > > State-Changed-Why: > > Gtk1 is needed since libIDL dependency, but OOo2 still > > needs gtk2 and mozilla is happy with gtk2, so dependency of > > gtk1 and orbit are now redundant. > > > > > > http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=77290 > > libIDL shouldn't be necessary. libIDL2 should supersede the need for > libIDL... Mozilla1.7 requires libIDL 0.6 or 0.8. but libIDL2 doesn't supersede libIDL in this case. I'm not sure these functionality difference but configure checks libIDL's version. so libIDL dependency for mozilla compilation can still exists. Why I said `can still exists' ? mozilla connectivity doesn't depend on gtk1,2 but building mozilla requires one of them. I would like to reduce the dependency so I once tried to reduce the requirement of from gtk2 to xlib, but in this case we need libIDL and not libIDL2. We need libIDL and it requires gtk1. Thanks for your comment. My commit log was wrong. correct one is since gtk1 is needed libIDL dependency, but OOo2 of moz project build with gtk2 (and this is the default) so dependency of gtk1 and orbit are now redundant. > The FreeBSD GNOME team has been phasing out gtk12 support whenever gtk20 > support is available as much as possible, and I think that it'd be a big > win to have OO do the same. gtk12 is now not needed for any app in any > of the GNOME metaports... are you sure that glib12/gtk12/libIDL are > necessary for OO? So please ignore that whole part of my previous email ::P But, second of all: libIDL does not require gtk12. Please look at our port Makefile for www/mozilla. We use mozilla-1.7 as well, and we don't have gtk12 in there at all. Simply pass its configure --enable-default-toolkit=gtk2 and you're good to go. Please give it a try. mozilla is an entirely-GTK2 project. mozilla-1.7 does not need gtk12 in any way, shape, or form, and in fact later moz-1.7 versions don't have any support for gtk12 at all. # Adam -- Adam Weinberger adamw@magnesium.net || adamw@FreeBSD.org adamw@vectors.cx || adamw@gnome.org http://www.vectors.cx From owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Jun 19 18:09:08 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AF7FA16A41C for ; Sun, 19 Jun 2005 18:09:08 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from durian@shadetreesoftware.com) Received: from shadetreesoftware.com (ip-64-139-19-166.dsl.den.megapath.net [64.139.19.166]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2F00543D1F for ; Sun, 19 Jun 2005 18:09:07 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from durian@shadetreesoftware.com) Received: from mailhost.boogie.com (root@cpe-66-87-52-132.co.sprintbbd.net [66.87.52.132]) by shadetreesoftware.com (8.13.3/8.13.3) with ESMTP id j5JI8xO3097745; Sun, 19 Jun 2005 12:09:01 -0600 (MDT) (envelope-from durian@shadetreesoftware.com) Received: from man.boogie.com (man.boogie.com [192.168.1.3]) by mailhost.boogie.com (8.13.3/8.13.3) with ESMTP id j5JI8vPK052843; Sun, 19 Jun 2005 12:08:58 -0600 (MDT) (envelope-from durian@shadetreesoftware.com) From: Mike Durian Organization: Shade Tree Software, LLC To: NAKATA Maho Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2005 12:08:55 -0600 User-Agent: KMail/1.8 References: <200506061410.33055.durian@shadetreesoftware.com> <20050619.124642.74718514.chat95@mac.com> In-Reply-To: <20050619.124642.74718514.chat95@mac.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Message-Id: <200506191208.56452.durian@shadetreesoftware.com> X-Greylist: Sender IP whitelisted, not delayed by milter-greylist-2.0b1 (shadetreesoftware.com [192.168.2.2]); Sun, 19 Jun 2005 12:09:03 -0600 (MDT) X-Greylist: Sender IP whitelisted, not delayed by milter-greylist-2.0b1 (mailhost.boogie.com [66.87.52.132]); Sun, 19 Jun 2005 12:08:58 -0600 (MDT) X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV 0.85.1/946/Sun Jun 19 02:41:16 2005 on oak.shadetreesoftware.com X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV 0.85.1/946/Sun Jun 19 02:41:16 2005 on fever.boogie.com X-Virus-Status: Clean X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.8 required=5.0 tests=ALL_TRUSTED autolearn=failed version=3.0.3 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.0.3 (2005-04-27) on oak.shadetreesoftware.com Cc: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Subject: Re: 2.0-devel, epm, libfltk and libm X-BeenThere: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting OpenOffice to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2005 18:09:08 -0000 On Saturday 18 June 2005 09:46 pm, NAKATA Maho wrote: > In Message-ID: <200506061410.33055.durian@shadetreesoftware.com> > > Mike Durian wrote: > > I'm trying to build 2.0-devel (m107) and the build process is dying > > trying to build epm: > > it seems to be if epm is installed building project epm dies. I think this is a different problem. Though I had epm installed at one point, I made sure it was deinstalled before starting a fresh OOo build with the latest sources (m110). The problem is due to OOo's epm detecting fltk and trying to use it without picking up a libm dependency. fltk uses math library functions. Maybe it is fltk-config's fault for not specifying -lm, but something needs to include libm if fltk is detected. I bet you can reproduce this problem yourself if you install x11-toolkits/fltk and then try a clean build of OOo-2.0-devel.
