There is report in mentioned freedesktop bug discussion the problem here in xorg-server 1.14. It seems, not nuch has changed in this xkb code. I've read CFT letter. I'm legacy NVidia hardware user, it seems I should not touch newer X.org? I have a couple of issues: 1) I can freeze the system by trying to get to the console (I know it's not supported, but I can still hit CTRL-ALT-F1 out of habit). 2) System freezes during S3 resume. 3) Shutdown seems to be broken, i.e. file systems are not clean when I boot the next time. Long fsck and lots of stuff in the lost+found every time I boot. I assume there may be a panic, but I cannot get the system to dump even by setting dumpdev manually. If this is of no interest I'll just go back to the old Xorg, which frequently crashes, but doesn't take everything else down with it, so I at least don't have to worry about data loss. Yes, those are known issues from Mesa and the port. However, Mesa 8.0.5 may be too old for many Radeon cards unfortunately, including yours. I'm working on a patch to make Mesa Git build on FreeBSD. I'll post it on the wiki once it's finished. > I haven't had a chance to test anything else (as I'm not in front of > that computer at the moment), but it's looking good so far. You don't need to test further, it won't work: the driver has a locking issue. OpenGL applications get stuck and are unkillable. Other applications still work though. Hi! Can you double check that you actually got xorg-devel properly? There should already be a port x11/xcb-proto in xorg-dev, and also in the regular ports tree, so there should be no need to create the port. If you have trouble building xcb-proto, I need to see a log of the failed build to be able to help you further. I did not do any modification to the ports tree - it seems fine. After poudriere was unable to build because of the "missing package" not found in the repository, creating a package for xcb-proto and placing it in the repo fixes this error - ie poudriere completes the build for package libxcb > If you have trouble building xcb-proto No problem there, as explained above. As you know, if there is a package which the poudriere build que depends on or which it requires for the build process, then poudriere checks the repo for this package and if it finds that it is missing in the repo, it then adds the missing dependent package into the build que automatically so as to prevent a similar error like the above. Since we are getting this error, poudriere is not calculating the depends tree/process correctly. This also could be a poudriere issue, but not likely. Using portshaker to merge the ports trees. This sounds like a poudriere issue then, but I can't tell anything without further logs. I have never had any trouble building the xorg-dev packages using poudriere.
