Or to use a resolution greater then 1024x768? Which driver are you using in X? If you are using the vesa driver, you'll o= nly get VESA resolutions. For nvidia cards you should use the x11/nvidia-driver port. I would start by making sure you have nvidia_load="YES" in /boot/loader.conf . After that other people can probably help you a bit further, but having av pciconf -lv and a dmesg would help, I think. Could you please check the output of the following command? sysctl hw.pci.default_vgapci_unit If it says "hw.pci.default_vgapci_unit: -1", try to put the following line in your /boot/loader.conf: hw.pci.default_vgapci_unit=3D"0" Then reboot and start X again. Your card is supposed to be supported by FreeBSD 10. But there's a known issue with integrated video cards: we seem to have troubles detecting that it's the default output during boot. --=20 Jean-S=E9bastien P=E9dron --vqGDBFd19sI2BvD0BjheDGDhGVxSaIEof Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (FreeBSD) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iEYEARECAAYFAlJeR08ACgkQa+xGJsFYOlMMjwCg2RUUXniLK/Ozy0KnxCPa69di sokAn0ElYUAENVn8o7LVVj2SjDDVmdTK =+OuJ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --vqGDBFd19sI2BvD0BjheDGDhGVxSaIEof-- From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Oct 17 00:17:03 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 11A71E63 for ; Thu, 17 Oct 2013 00:17:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ghw@7axu.com) Received: from mail-wi0-f170.google.com (mail-wi0-f170.google.com [209.85.212.170]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-RC4-SHA (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 91B582484 for ; Thu, 17 Oct 2013 00:17:02 +0000 (UTC) Received: by mail-wi0-f170.google.com with SMTP id l12so130756wiv.3 for ; Wed, 16 Oct 2013 17:16:55 -0700 (PDT) X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20130820; h=x-gm-message-state:mime-version:in-reply-to:references:from:date :message-id:subject:to:cc:content-type; bh=od+UNEoD23wm3ufzL0gjVLBrVjV++cIERLFktNjGC2Y=; b=Svida9bq4HrpJVfaKPUFnyPbRptc7nR4EhJS8KF+rcRrHewJbLkoHa9uLNMNHCFte4 fD6BWXBA2bhethO11xsA9bLaWxXsQKyCOiiuGjg//+M2oqSysA6AbE25OzonjPRJZSmT ycVj5eeI01MFueToHEUnSUexqY11jH2TCED1snlw4K9blAxyeqg6izrnmm5nwYsJjx9A V4f/6Co9LKQBEGJhmrDm43aVzl8VGFQ/n4aKSFc8Rz/w8FztoUoMUXpOLdHaKEQJihKO +PMPv8lv/pfPxrmmyWmH4pt6ro3hCIseE1ZKXX+g1t3xohTz08kYU2P/i2bVPdKeV/2E EbGQ== X-Gm-Message-State: ALoCoQkdKTOWRpLN2y3pdbfN4mJrCCWmIuwQj1vM05fyZL0Ise8dw97Vy6nSyNVlfvRrC9Az7lWa X-Received: by 10.180.38.72 with SMTP id e8mr4556507wik.0.1381969014871; Wed, 16 Oct 2013 17:16:54 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.194.175.8 with HTTP; Wed, 16 Oct 2013 17:16:14 -0700 (PDT) X-Originating-IP: [54.249.112.206] In-Reply-To: <525E474F.1070307@FreeBSD.org> References: <525E474F.1070307@FreeBSD.org> From: Haowu Ge Date: Thu, 17 Oct 2013 08:16:14 +0800 Message-ID: Subject: Re: AMD_KMS does not support AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics? Nvidia-driver is 319.32. Rebuilt the kernel the way I always used to. Removed compat_freebsd32 and a lot more. With new kernel I cannot load nvidia.ko, since it does not load linux.ko. During install linux_base-f10-10_7 was included. Amd64 version. I booted generic kernel and succeeded to load nvidia and linux. Now I could run x, so the problem is self made. What option I have to leave in to have nvidia loaded? I put 'nvidia_load="YES"' in /boot/loader.conf already. I have few more problems after upgrade. Luakit cannot load, due to: Shared object "libpcre.so.1" not found, required by "libgiofam.so" Failed to load module: /usr/local/lib/gio/modules/libgiofam.so For another browser, conkeror, I get another error: Shared object "libpixman-1.so.9" not found, required by "libxul.so" I see no obvious mistake during upgrade, but it cannot be taken for sure, since both browsers are not up and ready. Executive summary: it works, thank you, guys, great stuff! Keep up this excellent work :-) Although I have not tried all the possible applications, I mostly run Wine (and played "Papers, Please"), glxgears, played videos using mplayer but without VDPAU, and watched YouTube and other videos from the web via the Chromium + (Linux) Flash combo -- so feel free to hint me what else to test. In details: see the logs [1]. Note that the card did not work at first try as the driver did not seem to detect the hardware automatically (as it is an IGP). I contacted Jean-S=E9bastien on IRC and he told me to add the "hw.pci.default_vgapci_unit=3D0" line to loader.conf(5). I also had to preload the drm2 kernel module manually, as the the radeonkms driver does not seem to pull it in automatically.
