It's time to test it. Settings manager and panel were rewritten, support of FreeBSD (and DragonFly) was enhanced. Unfortunatelly panel still crashes (like current version in ports tree), if acpi_video(4), driver, which controls backlight brightness is not functional. OpenBSD users seem to have same problem. You need to have hw.acpi.video.%s.levels and hw.acpi.video.%s.brightness, otherwise panel crashes. Panel is only essential for backlight brightness, daemon is provided by another port. On my laptop I can decrease (or increase brightness level with multimedia keys, but not with sysctl). Now xfce4-power-manager is divided into: - sysutils/power-manager-common (daemon and settings manager) [1] - sysutils/xfce4-power-manager (panel plugin) [2] Power manager supports also LXDE, but lxpanel must be updated. It's also available in '4.11' branch, see our wiki page [3] for details (this is transitional branch, in other words compatible with our current ports tree, this will change with the 4.12 release). When panel plugin is running, we can define new mode calls 'presentation mode'. I have experimental patches [4] which inhibits xscreensaver (apply to sysutils/power-manager-common). To enable, new property must be created: xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager/presentation-mode -n -t bool -s true To disable: xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager/presentation-mode -T Enjoy [1] https://people.freebsd.org/~olivierd/patches/power-manager-common.shar [2] https://people.freebsd.org/~olivierd/patches/xfce4-power-manager.diff [3] https://wiki.freebsd.org/Xfce [4] https://people.freebsd.org/~olivierd/patches/power-manager-common/ -- Olivier Duchateau From owner-freebsd-xfce@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Feb 19 09:25:55 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: xfce@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher AECDH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id B4F917C9 for ; Thu, 19 Feb 2015 09:25:55 +0000 (UTC) Received: from portscout.freebsd.org (portscout.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:6]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id A0755870 for ; Thu, 19 Feb 2015 09:25:55 +0000 (UTC) Received: from portscout.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.123]) by portscout.freebsd.org (8.14.9/8.14.9) with ESMTP id t1J9PtOc024924 for ; Thu, 19 Feb 2015 09:25:55 GMT (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from portscout@localhost) by portscout.freebsd.org (8.14.9/8.14.9/Submit) id t1J9PtaR024923; Thu, 19 Feb 2015 09:25:55 GMT (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <201502190925.t1J9PtaR024923@portscout.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: portscout.freebsd.org: portscout set sender to portscout@FreeBSD.org using -f Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Content-Type: text/plain MIME-Version: 1.0 Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2015 09:25:55 +0000 From: portscout@FreeBSD.org To: xfce@freebsd.org Subject: FreeBSD ports you maintain which are out of date X-Mailer: portscout/0.8.1 X-BeenThere: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18-1 Precedence: list List-Id: XFCE for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2015 09:25:55 -0000 Dear port maintainer, The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your ports appears to be out of date. I think this means that midori will automatically be build with webkit2, if one chooses to build it with gtk3 support, but I'm not exactly sure about that. According to the midori devs, webkit2 support is still highly experimental, and webkit1 should currently be the default. So if you'd add an option to the port that allows one to choose which webkit version to use for midori, I'd be really grateful. Hi, Firstly, the latest release of Midori was published before GNOME3 import in ports tree, then webkit2 support (it was optional) was only in www/webkit-gtk3 port (now there's www/webkit2-gtk3), that's why in Midori's Makefile we test if WebKit2 API is supported. At that time webkit-gtk3 was not in good shape (with and without WebKit2 support), increase CPU, badly rendering, etc. As there's no new version, Midori's Makefile was not modified. Gtk3 will be default toolkit, when Midori will be entirely ported to Vala, and it's not finished yet. Otherwise some extensions (and even external application, like steadyflow) are not compatible with Gtk3, so it's better to stay with default option :) Regards > > Best wishes, > > phryk > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org mailing list > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-xfce > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-xfce-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" -- Olivier Duchateau From owner-freebsd-xfce@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Feb 21 14:26:28 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher AECDH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id F2C297B6 for ; Sat, 21 Feb 2015 14:26:28 +0000 (UTC) Received: from smtp208.alice.it (smtp208.alice.it [82.57.200.104]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 865E2BDC for ; Sat, 21 Feb 2015 14:26:24 +0000 (UTC) Received: from soth.ventu (82.58.25.141) by smtp208.alice.it (8.6.060.28) (authenticated as acanedi@alice.it) id 54D9EA33019952EB for freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org; Sat, 21 Feb 2015 15:26:17 +0100 Received: from alamar.ventu (alamar.ventu [10.1.2.18]) by soth.ventu (8.15.1/8.14.9) with ESMTP id t1LEPR8o029341 for ; Sat, 21 Feb 2015 15:25:28 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from ml@netfence.it) Message-ID: <54E89568.1090602@netfence.it> Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2015 15:25:44 +0100 From: Andrea Venturoli User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD i386; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/31.4.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Subject: Re: [CFT] sysutils/xfce4-power-manager 1.4.2 References: <20150217231434.36f057bacaeb92eae93df57c@freebsd.org> In-Reply-To: <20150217231434.36f057bacaeb92eae93df57c@freebsd.org> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-BeenThere: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18-1 Precedence: list List-Id: XFCE for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2015 14:26:29 -0000 On 02/18/15 00:14, Olivier Duchateau wrote: > Hi, > > An update of sysutils/xfce4-power-manager is available for some time in Xfce devel repo. The panel icon now shows correctly if I'm running on line power or battery (as it did before upower 0.99). An estimate is given about battery life and I also receive notifications; the two however don't agree at all: e.g. panel gives 2h1', notification says 2' (60 times less). Closing the lid does not lock the screen: this was working before (with older upower). Also, the new panel item is a big waste on a 10" monitor: with the older version the icon lived in the notification area. Is this behaviour still possible? Overall, it looks like the old functionality (the one that upower 0.99 broke) was in part (but not all) recovered. bye & Thanks av. It's now supposed to be provided by systemd or something: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/upower/commit/?id=1ee642e705a63f5ad56a6b55e4bf5c4a64c959b8 Commands like the following no longer work for instance which means Xfce no longer supports suspend. dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest="org.freedesktop.UPower" \ /org/freedesktop/UPower org.freedesktop.UPower.Suspend Does this update provide alternative dbus methods? Or should upower be downgraded to 0.9.x?
