(AS 800) a) Neither the CD image nor the FTP site contain the XFree86-Setup Package. b) The Xfree86 port as delivered plainly refused to work and produced a suspicious Machine Check. So, i decided to give Xfree86 4.2 a try. Downloaded the sources, compiled, and voila.... Again the same Machine Check. Machine Check While in PAL mode PC = 1c778 Also, the offending server dumps Assembler to the /etc/X11/XF86config The resulting file is attached, FWIW BTW. I have tried the following PCI video adaptors. ATI All in Wonder (4MB) Matrox MGA Millenium (4MB) Both in 32 and in the 64 bit slot. Alas, the machine used to run Linux flawlessly, and has ran DU 4.0E (with an SRM hack to pretend it to be an AS 800) flawlessly as well System config Alphaserver 3305 500 Mhz 21164A 1 9.1 GB IBM SCA Drive 256 MB (both banks populated) Thanks in advance Roberto de Iriarte roberto@spock.cl To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-alpha" in the body of the message
