Upgrading from 6.2 p9 to 7.0 revealed a possible regression in 6.3 and 7.0 for the NVidia C19 / ck804 (nForce4) chipset. On reboot into the 7.0 kernel, the system was unable to find the disks and failed just after the md0 mfsroot line. The sysinstall for 6.3 and 7.0 is unable to recognize the CD\DVD and sata disk drives in the system. The output of pciconf -lv Using a dsbsd live cd of 7.0 is shown below. "atacontrol list" shows ATA channel 0 thru 5; each one has master and slave with 'no device present'. Other information is hard to gather since I have watchdog timeouts for the ethernet cards in this system. The pciconf -lv was hand typed but double checked for accuracy. pciconf -lv hostb0@pci0:0:0:0: class=0x060000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007110de rev=0xa3 hdr=0x00 class = bridge subclass = HOST-PCI none0@pci0:0:0:1: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007f10de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none1@pci0:0:0:2: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007510de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none2@pci0:0:0:3: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x006f10de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none3@pci0:0:0:4: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x00b410de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none4@pci0:0:1:0: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007610de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none5@pci0:0:1:1: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007810de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none6@pci0:0:1:2: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007910de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none7@pci0:0:1:3: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007a10de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none8@pci0:0:1:4: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007b10de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none9@pci0:0:1:5: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007c10de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM none10@pci0:0:1:6: class=0x050000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007d10de rev=0xa1 hdr=0x00 class = memory subclass = RAM pcib1@pci0:0:2:0: class=0x060400 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007e10de rev=0xa2 hdr=0x01 class = bridge subclass = PCI-PCI pcib2@pci0:0:4:0: class=0x060400 card=0x00000000 chip=0x007e10de rev=0xa2 hdr=0x01 class = bridge subclass = PCI-PCI none11@pci0:0:9:0: class=0x058000 card=0x00001028 chip=0x005e10de rev=0xa4 hdr=0x00 class = memory isab0@pci0:0:10:0: class=0x060100 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x005010de rev=0xa4 hdr=0x00 class = bridge subclass = PCI-ISA none12@pci0:0:10:1: class=0x0c0500 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x005210de rev=0xa2 hdr=0x00 class = serial bus subclass = SMBus ohci@pci0:0:11:0: class=0x0c0310 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x005a10de rev=0xa2 hdr=0x00 class = serial bus subclass = USB none13@pci0:0:11:1: class=0x0c0320 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x005ba0de rev=0xa4 hdr=0x00 class = serial bus subclass = USB none14@pci0:0:13:1: class=0x040100 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x005910de rev=0xa2 hdr=0x00 class = multimedia subclass = audio atapci0@pci0:0:15:0: class=0x01018a card=0xcb8410de chip=0x005310de rev=0xf3 hdr=0x00 class = mass storage subclass = ATA atapci1@pci0:0:16:0: class=0x010485 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x005410de rev=0xf3 hdr=0x00 class = mass storage subclass = RAID atapci2@pci0:0:17:0: class=0x010485 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x005510de rev=0xf4 hdr=0x00 class = mass storage subclass = RAID pcib3@pci0:0:18:0: class=0x060401 card=0x00000000 chip=0x005c10de rev=0xa2 hdr=0x01 class = bridge subclass = PCI-PCI nfe0@pci0:0:19:0: class=0x068000 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x005710de rev=0x0a3 hdr=0x00 class = bridge pcib4@pci0:0:23:0: class=0x060400 card=0x00000000 chip=0x005d10de rev=0xa3 hdr=0x01 class = bridge subclass = PCI-PCI vgapci0@pci0:1:0:0: class=0x030000 card=0x024510de chip=0x00c110de rev=0xa2 hdr=0x00 class = display subclass = VGA em0@pci0:3:3:0: class=0x020000 card=0x13768086 chip=0x107c8086 rev=0x05 hdr=0x00 class = network subclass = ethernet fwohci0@pci0:3:10:0: class=0x0c0010 card=0x01c31028 chip=0x8023104c rev=0x00 hdr=0x00 class = serial bus subclass = FireWire >How-To-Repeat: Run the 6.3 or 7.0 sysinstall on a similar system.
