[without trying to step on no-one's toes here, which probably is futile anyways [sic]] What I have seen being discussed by Peter, Matthew and Poul if memory serves me right is natural progress. Granted, stepping on MAINTAINER's toes is not something that's being willingly done. At least I don't think it should be. However it seems that the main issue at the moment is is that everybody clutches themselves to a particular piece of code of FreeBSD and completely claiming it as their own. This is good with regard to making sure some level of stability is conceived with regard to the code, but otherwise it's a pain in the butt since nothing seems to be done around the sourcetree with any significant changes lest some people who were always used to the way it works are now somewhat in the way of making natural progress on sourcecode. Of course we don't want the chaos that Linux is, I at least don't want that personally, but there's also a certain sentiment amongst other people who try to stick as much to the system as it were in 2.2.x. [Please note that I am in no way accusing any of the addressed people with this] Come on, people, 4.0 is the best version I have seen since I started my meager steps in the world of BSD somewhat over more than a year and a half ago now. Like we told doc-jp, sometimes swallow your pride and adjust.
