I've seen speeds at around 600KBytes/sec (4.6mbit/sec) which is about the best you can do - and isn't bad by any means. As I explained below, the problem is with FBSD 5.X (all the way to CURRENT), where I'm seeing the speeds drop from what they were in 4.x to around 180KBytes/sec (or 1.4mbit/sec).
