I've been listening to the usual hotheaded young males beating their chests and chanting the mantras of their favorite religion (FreeBSD in this case) for several days. Precious few of the people on this list seem objective enough and unemotional enough to answer my questions impartially and calmly, and equally few seem to really know what they are talking about. It's a typical mailing list, in other words, but it doesn't seem to be a very useful resources for getting questions answered. > The threads that you start and contribute to > tend to diverge a lot from being `questions' > and they have a tendency to transform in 'FreeBSD > vs Windows' flamefests. Please stop this. You don't approve of comparisons between FreeBSD and other operating systems? How can I discuss a new operating system or learn anything about it if I am forbidden to mention other operating systems with which I am familiar? > If you want to learn how FreeBSD works, the people > on this list and the rest of the FreeBSD support > lists are more than willing to point to the right > places. Don't they have any answers themselves? If all I want is _pointers_ to _other_ resources, I can just use Google. There must be some gurus somewhere here on this list. > So, if you begin to like FreeBSD after a while, then > you are most welcome to use it :) I liked FreeBSD as soon as I installed it. I just don't consider it deity incarnate. To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
