I want to compile a new kernel (FreeBSD 4.7) for my Athlon XP with a AC97 VIA 8233 chipset. Question 1 : ------------ What kind of cpu should i put in the Kernel config file ? cpu I686_CPU ? I've tried this and the dmesg command shows me the processor is a pentium pro Question 2 : ------------ About the VIA AC97 Chipset... I've put in /boot/loader.conf the line : snd_via8233="YES" And no sound, yet.... Should i include the pcm device in the kernel ?
